A MONTH LATER

Wow, what a crazy, busy few weeks !

Everything is coming together and all the things I've worked hard to master are now making sense - who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks ?

Remember the first day you walked into a new school classroom and you just edged round the side of the wall and then sat down quietly and listened? Everyone else seemed so much more experienced, confident and you never thought you would ever be part of the group. Then, as the days go by, you start to relax, you make friends, you start to feel comfortable and that you belong.

That's where I am now.

I was in awe of all these successful people in the beginning, I just sat quietly on the side, listened and learned. I had to because, at that point, I didn't know that I was the same as them.  Now I do, thanks to the help, support and encouragement I've been given. I know I can be the mentor and coach that they have been, and help others step into this huge classroom that is the training ground to being a successful marketer.

I am now building my team, showing them the ropes and trying to make the learning easier by sharing what I went through, and helping them find the answers to the many questions that arise.

It's so exciting and rewarding, being able to grow a team, and building a business by helping make others successful.

What could be better?

DAY 21

Wow, two weeks down the road and I’m starting to see the wood from the trees!

So much information, possibly too much for a novice like myself. I thought the best thing to do was to try and listen to everything I was told, read everything I was given and put it all into practice. What I found was that I was completely overloading.

I took a step back and started to focus.

Like anything new, you don’t know what’s relevant and what isn’t until you understand the process of internet marketing.

The main purpose is to promote and to ensure that the relevant people who are looking for your product are being guided to it. Once they have found you, they then have to choose to follow through.

So, I decided to simplify everything.

Coming from a sales background, I know that people buy from people they relate to. By trying to be an ‘expert’ from day one, I was in danger of losing my identity, so I thought I would be me, and tell it how it is from my perspective at this time.

Firstly, I revamped my website, it was a corporate one, written by high achievers and I didn’t, at this point, relate to them. So I became me, told my story, my ambitions and my intentions to grow, learn, develop and become successful. I feel the best way to grow is by gathering a team with different skills and talents, share them and grow collectively. Having worked in a tight knit team in previous jobs I know the benefits of having someone to turn to whose skills are stronger than mine and being able to share my strengths with them.

So, now I feel comfortable with my identity, I have to get people to my website. This is where I got so tangled up. I felt like I was in a catch 22 situation. I can write articles and blogs, but really, what advice and help can I give, I can only tell my story. I read lots of articles and did loads of research and I learned, I do have knowledge and skills, many years of sales experience, bucket loads of life experience and the desire and commitment to see through everything I start. I wrote bits and bobs and am looking to get them online.

Then I started on a different train of thought. In this climate of recession and job losses, there must be thousands of people like me who are looking for an opportunity to make more of life than a dead end, low paid, struggle through another week existence. How do I find these people? Job sites, classified ads, that seemed to be the way to go, while I kept learning and working through the marketing program.

That’s what I did, and it’s working. I now have people wanting to join me and the team is starting to take shape. I’m excited, I feel that not only can I start to build my own business, but I can help others achieve their dreams as well. How good is that?

So, that’s where I am just now, every day is a new challenge, but the biggest thing I have learned over the past couple of weeks is to work on your strengths and not be a Jack of all trades, master of none !

In this marketing program there are experts in every field who are more than willing to help and guide me through things, like technical stuff which leaves me dazed and confused! Next I need to work on accessing and working in the Google network, but in little steps, not trying to walk before I can run. Scary, but I’ll get there. The best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time !!

Check me out and let me know what you think?

Day 5

Hi, my name is Alyson and I have decided to write this, probably more for me to keep a record of my progress, as I try and master the technical skills and complexities of online marketing.
I am following a brilliant program set up by two amazing guys who have 'been there, done it' (who better to learn from than experts) which is helping me step by step and guiding me through the best way to establish an online presence.
From there on in I will be able to use the biggest resource on the planet to grow my business and be able to stop lining the pockets of the 'big guys' at the top, who are quite happy to sit back and cream the profits while us humble little worker bees struggle to make sales in the current climate !
So far so good  : )
Up to now, my total skills on a computer have been switching it on and off and writing emails !!!
I had heard of Twitter, Facebook and MySpace, but had never ventured there, but hey, all this is going to change!! So, this is my very first blog, which I am proud to say I set up all by myself , not nearly as scary as I first thought, I have set up my web page (who's a clever girl then)and my head is spinning with information that I can utilise.
If anyone would like to give me any advice, because any help is always appreciated  : )   or would like to see what I'm doing click here
I'm going to stop now and do the next bit on my 'to do' list.
